El “Inter-agency Working Group (IAWG) on Reproductive Health in Crisis” invita a su reunión anual
Santo Domingo, República Dominicana del 24 al 26 de mayo del 2010.
Objetivos de la décimo segunda reunión del IAWG:
- Revisar el progreso hacia el alcance de las metas programadas y los pasos a seguir especificados en los Términos de Referencia después de la reunión del IAWG que tuvo lugar en El Cairo en el 2008.
- Compartir información; identificar áreas clave de trabajo en común. Planear pasos siguientes y áreas de coordinación y colaboración para 2010-2011.
- Establecer un foro regional del IAWG para las regiones de América Latina y el Caribe (LAC) que servirá para compartir información y lecciones aprendidas en proyectos en la región y para habilitar asociaciones sinérgicas con el fin de minimizar los esfuerzos en duplicado y de identificar y responder a necesidades que no han sido satisfechas.
La reunión acercará a individuos que están dedicados a mejorar los resultados en cuanto a salud reproductiva de aquellas personas que se encuentran afectadas por situaciones de conflicto o desastres naturales. Se espera que las organizaciones que trabajan en el campo de salud reproductiva en situaciones de crisis participen, al igual que los nuevos miembros del IAWG.
Durante la reunión, los participantes trabajarán en pequeños grupos para identificar necesidades no satisfechas y soluciones según el tema, y determinar actividades prioritarias para 2010-2011.
Requisitos
Se pide a todas las organizaciones que preparen un documento de una página detallando su trabajo en el área de salud reproductiva en situaciones de crisis o explicando su interés en trabajar en temas de salud reproductiva en tales situaciones. Por favor enviarle a ChelseaC@archq.org antes del 30 April. Estos documentos se distribuirán en la reunión anual. Ya que un gran número de personas de diferentes agencias participará, una vez cerrado el periodo de registro, nos mantendremos en contacto con cada organización.
Se ruega a todos los participantes que completen el Módulo del “Minimum Initial Service Package” (MISP) (Paquete de Servicio Inicial Mínimo) antes de la reunión del IAWG. El MISP para salud reproductiva es un conjunto de actividades prioritarias que deben ser implementadas en el comienzo de cada situación de emergencia, y el módulo tiene como objetivo el aumentar los conocimientos del personal humanitario en cuanto a servicios de salud reproductiva. El módulo toma aproximadamente 3-4 horas, y un resultado de 80% o más en la prueba final le permitirá recibir la certificación de MISP. Se pueden leer el módulo y la prueba final aquí.

Después de la reunión en el Cairo, se formó el Inter-agency Working Group (IAWG) sobre Salud Reproductiva en Situaciones de Crisis; el grupo tiene representación de agencias de las Naciones Unidas, organizaciones internacionales no gubernamentales, ministerios de gobierno y organizaciones académicas. Las tareas principales del grupo son organizar y facilitar salud reproductiva en todas las situaciones de crisis. Con este propósito, el IAWG ha desarrollado materiales específicamente diseñados para salud reproductiva en situaciones de urgencia que incluyen un manual de campo de salud reproductiva que incorpora el Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP), ahora un “Sphere Standard”.
Desde 1997, el IAWG ha realizado reuniones anuales para discutir la implementación del MISP y para llegar a acuerdos en cuanto a estrategias en común y áreas de colaboración para fortalecer los servicios de salud reproductiva en situaciones de crisis. Nuevos miembros se han unido al grupo, incluso instituciones académicas y de investigación y se han formado grupos regionales para hacer frente a retos específicos de ciertas regiones y compartir lecciones aprendidas.
